Benefits of Joining Radio Signal Modelers Club
Radio Signal Modelers Flying Club (RSM) has had its “flight operations” at the Schiller Woods Flying Field since its inception in 1971. RSM with an AMA Charter 1289 is currently the only organized flying club supporting the Schiller Woods Flying Field.
As a result, RSM members are responsible for the field’s flight readiness. RSM mows around the runway and the pilot pit areas weekly during the growing season. Field maintenance is the primary use of RSM’s annual dues and donations.

Attend a Club Meeting
While your attendance at club meetings is not required in order for you to maintain your membership in RSM, it is a good way of meeting with your fellow RC enthusiasts and learning more about RC airplanes through our discussions. The club meets on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Schiller Park Community Center, 4501 N. 25th Ave., Schiller Park, Illinois (October-May). Meetings are held at the Schiller Park Flying Field, weather permitting, for the scheduled meetings in June, July, August and September, also at 6:30 p.m.
The Meetings now include Zoom so you can now join on a smartphone or home computer when you can’t be there. We also have Hybrid Meetings, where we have an actual in person meeting along with Zoom in the same room. If you can’t attend either one, we also have a recorded meeting to watch on your own time.
Learn to Fly RC
Several experienced club members have agreed to act as Instructor Pilots (IP) to assist new club members in learning to fly RC airplanes for the first time. Joining the club as a beginner is the best way to learn proper flying techniques and help preserve your investment with your first plane or helicopter.
Or Just Make a Donation
As the sole source of maintenance at the Schiller Woods Flying Field, all users of the field benefit from the hard work and devotion of the members of RSM in maintaining the field. Users of the field can help ensure that the field receives all the attention it needs by making a donation to the club. Please click HERE to access the Donations Form so we know who to thank or go to the “Donations” tab on top of this page to pay online. “Thank You” again in advance for your help!
